The Legend Behind the Artwork

In Scottish folklore, the Kelpie is a supernatural water spirit said to inhabit lonely lochs and forgotten river crossings.

Most often appearing as an extraordinarily beautiful black horse, the Kelpie patiently waits for curious travelers to approach. Drawn in by its beauty, those who reach out soon discover the creature's true nature as it returns to the depths, carrying its victims beneath the water forever.

Unlike many legendary creatures, the Kelpie doesn't hunt.
